After CMT has recently picked up Melissa Peterman's pilot Working Class to series, they are going further in planning. CMT has ordered twelve new episodes for the show, which is their first scripted comedy. The show is a half-hour, family-oriented sitcom starring Melissa Peterman (Barbra Jean from Reba). CMT has recently confirmed that the production of the new sitcom will start in October, and it will premiere in January 2011 on CMT. Working Class follows the life of a single blue-collar mom, who has moved her family to a more rich suburban neighborhood to provide a better life for her children, while proudly retaining her working class roots. Working Class is written and executive produced by Jill Cargerman (Spin CityLas VegasGary Unmarried) and will be produced internally. Brad Johnson and Bob Kusbit will oversee the series for CMT.

Peterman quotes, "It's exciting to be a part of CMT's entry into the scripted comedy world, and I'm thrilled they are jumping in with me onboard." Peterman continued, "I loved the show and the character the first time I read the script. It's funny, smart and the subject matter is relevant and relatable."

Melissa Peterman also hosts CMT's hit TV game show, The Singing Bee. She also filmed a one woman stand-up comedy performance called Melissa Peterman: Am I The Only One? And finally, the show she is most recognized from as the big goofy blonde, the hit TV sitcom, Reba! She played the role of Barbra Jean Hart! After so many successful years, Peterman continues. She signed with Big Machine Records, for her first comedy album. With all Peterman's hard work she's doing, we wish her all the best!
