"Melissa Peterman" rings familiar after mentioning country superstar Reba McEntire; both starred within Reba. Aside from that, millions are relatively unaware of the actress, despite her extended resume including over sixty professional acting credits. Although also currently hosting the revived The Singing Bee for CMT, Peterman has also scheduled her return to her standup comedy roots, early next month in Southern California.

Peterman recently performed two condensed comedy routines, opening for Steve McGrew in Pasadena in late October. After crowds reacted positively, Peterman was booked as the headliner on December 2 at the Punchline comedy club in Sacramento. This will mark the first complete routine from Peterman since she opened for Reba McEntire earlier this year. Before that, Peterman toured throughout 2008 with McEntire and Kelly Clarkson.

"I was going to pass out," Peterman said during an interview two years ago when first opening for Reba. Things have changed for the comedienne, and after performing standup over fifty times since that interview, Peterman seems anxious, and ready for the doors to open. "Now I don't want to stop."
